Bob Clements' Tribute to Michael Gerber for his 80th Birthday

It all started with a book.  The E-Myth Revisited:  Why Most Small Businesses Don't Work and What to Do About It by Michael Gerber was the catalyst behind the business we know today as Benchmark Business Group.  In close collaboration with Michael Gerber, Bob and Susan Clements set out to design a prototype E-Myth Coaching Center, hiring, training, and mentoring business coaches.  From there, the rest is history.

On Monday, June 20, Micheal Gerber will celebrate his 80th birthday.  To recognize him and the impact he has made on our company, a few members of our staff, who have been personally affected by Michael, have put their thoughts about him into words.  Here is one of their stories...

Once in a great while the world experiences a “Messenger,” someone with incredible insight, with an almost other-worldly sense of the truth about something. Whether they travel in the world of religion, social consciousness, nature, music, business, or whatever, they almost seem to be getting direct instructions from a higher source of knowledge. In the world of small business, Michael Gerber is that Messenger.

I have experienced him deliver long “sermons” on the plight of small business, with no notes or prompts, no scripts, and frankly no solid idea of where the speech will go before he starts. He just starts, and it happens. That is nothing less than a Gift. And now, after 17 years in this business myself, I have personally witnessed this Gift literally transform the lives of thousands of business owners.
