Al is a Certified Optimal Outcome Business Coach with Benchmark Business Group. He is a graduate of the University of Notre Dame. After graduation, Al combined his BA studies with 10 years of management experience in the McDonald’s Corporation (including a BH degree from “Hamburger University”) to enter the financial services world 37 years ago. He's a full-time consultant specializing in helping others engineer their business practices to the proverbial “next level” through the use of transferable systems.
Al is the creator of “The Practice Management Assessment” diagnostic tool and resource materials and has authored numerous articles in professional and mass-market publications, including contributions to Dow Jones/WSJ. He wrote a monthly column for the “Intuitive Advisor” newsletter for over ten years, answering practice management questions. He has worked with advisors from Securian, Baird, Cambridge, Allianz, W&R, AIG, LPL, Farm Bureau, Prudential, NY Life, MetLife and many independents across the country.
Al's first book was published by McGraw-Hill: "How to Build Your Financial Advisory Practice and Sell it at a Profit." He followed that up with a book on referral best practices: "Organic Referrals."
Al resides in Rochester, MN, with wife Barb and two cats. Al & Barb have three grown children, two of them in the US Military and one is an RN. Al’s areas of interest include studying classic comic strips, writing, reading, battling the New York Times Crossword puzzle and conducting adult education classes at his church.
