Eric Schmitz

Eric Schmitz is a Business Broker at Benchmark Business Group. Born and raised in eastern Iowa, he is a graduate of Loras College where he earned his Bachelor of Science degree in Mathematics with an emphasis in Economics, graduating Magna Cum Laude in 1995. Eric began his career at Principal Financial Group in Des Moines and in 2001 decided to take the leap into self-employment, spending several years in real estate sales and investment. Eric relocated back to Eastern Iowa in 2007 when he bought his first business. Through purchasing businesses, Eric has gained first-hand experience of the entire life cycle of business acquisition including negotiation, financing, due diligence, and the closing/transition process.  

As a previous business owner, Eric can relate to the complexities, challenges, and emotions that business owners face every day. Eric also has in-depth knowledge of the financial and tax implications of business ownership, and how to consider those aspects in the buying and selling process.
